The Emory Medical Laboratory (EML) provides standard as well as esoteric clinical laboratory services. EML performs nearly 4 million tests per year and employs over 400 laboratory professionals. In addition, EML has over 25 faculty members who actively participate in the clinical, research, and education missions of Emory Healthcare. Healthcare Providers may call with questions ranging for routine test orders and results, specimen requirements, or turnaround time information. For issues of a more technical nature, Customer Service will refer callers to the appropriate testing department.

Emory Medical Laboratory's Referral lab is a resource for esoteric laboratory diagnostic testing information. Whatever testing needs you may have, the Referral Lab team is ready to assist you and is focused on providing the highest level of service for both our patients and health care providers. Please be aware test result turnaround times do vary depending on the complexity of the test.

Hours of operation are Monday through Friday, 7:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. To reach the Referral Lab, contact Laboratory Customer Service.

Emory Medical Laboratory (EML) is a fully accredited and licensed clinical laboratory. EML participates in the College of American Pathologists (CAP) Laboratory Accreditation Program and has CLIA (Clinical Laboratory Improvement Amendments) certification through CMS (Centers of Medicare and Medicaid Services).
